REPORTS TO:  Controller



  • Develop, submit, negotiate and update forward pricing rates at least once a year and when business conditions materially change
  • Prepare, update and submit billing rates
  • Finalize, submit and negotiate actual or “Final” year CP close out rates.
  • Develop annual “Labor” rates while working with HR on escalation factors
  • Establish policies and training on “allowability” of costs for the Enterprise
  • Represent the organization as the subject matter expert when determining and deciding what is unallowable cost
  • Support the Estimating and Contracts teams on all matter specific to rates and allowability
  • Monitor current year rate performance while modeling and preparing “what if” analysis to determine if change in spending is required to meet end objective
  • Lead the effort and support of cost accounting changes preparing cost impact proposals and financial impacts resulting in these changes
  • Manage Austal’s disclosure statement including updating for changes and working with the government on impacts/audits
  • Develop a possible new rate structures when the business need arises for such changes
  • Support the Compliance team with government audits especially in any and all areas impacted by rates (i.e. CAS410 & CAS418)
  • Liaisons with all Finance management to ensure accurate reporting and timely correction of all outstanding discrepancies
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by Management


  •     BS/BA Accounting/Finance required
  •     Minimum of 7 years manufacturing or corporate accounting experience, and/or CPA, CMA, or MSA
  • Minimum of 5 years rate development experience in a government contract setting
  • Experience with government compliance issues and Defense Contracting Audit Agency (DCAA) preferred
  • Experience within Federal contracting industry a plus
  • Ability to work with limited direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

    DISCRETION EXERCISED: Ability to work independent and exercise sound judgment
