REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Analysis

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a key technical expert on financial analysis issues, concerns and special projects
  • Compiles and analyzes Austal USA Group focused financial information
  • Develops integrated revenue / cost of goods sold / work in process / overhead analysis, projections, reports and presentations
  • Develops comparison between budgets / forecasts / actuals and develops trend analysis
  • Prepares special reports and financial studies for management and alerts them to significant variances to plan
  • Analyzes monthly, quarterly and annual financial and operational results, including the production of the monthly hours report
  • Identifies trends and developments to support metrics for operations / others
  • Develops and/or analyzes forecast and reconciliations involving operations, programs and support functions
  • Interfaces with top management (including corporate parent company), responding to requests for financial data and variances
  • Liaisons with Finance Compliance to resolve reporting and/or compliance issues
  • Regularly interfaces with corporate parent company to communicate variance analyses and explanations
  • Prepares accounting position papers to provide details with regards to specific matters which require additional explanation (i.e. Program reserves/milestones)
  • Assists in the preparation of forward pricing rates
  • Provides support to the Chief Financial Officer and President on special projects
  • Maintains written policy and procedures for area of responsibility
  • Maintains compliance with Company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA Degree required. Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with 5-10 years of experience in a related field, preferably in manufacturing or public accounting.
  • Advance Degree, such as a MBA or CPA, a plus
  • Eight (8) plus years of financial analysis experience required
  • Ability to interact with all levels of Leadership
  • Proven ability to analyze data in relationship to budget/forecast and effectively communicate the analysis to management
  • Advanced (expert) knowledge of Excel, Access, Work and PowerPoint required
  • Working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Management System a plus
  • Ability to work with limited direction in a fast-paced environment required
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills required
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills required

DISCRETION EXERCISED: Ability to work independent and make sound judgments, while exercising creativity.

LIAISES WITH: Various levels of management to include Executives and AUSA President, finance department personnel, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and Corporate Chief Financial Officier.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
