REPORTS TO: Manager PDSS Warehouse
SUPERVISES: Logistics Associates

  • Lead, train, and provide guidance to assigned logistics personnel to build a high-performance, high-morale team.
  • Serve as key warehouse point of contact for Production/Post Delivery to ensure timely and accurate receipt, inventory, pick and delivery of material in support of Austal USA ships.
  • Provide accurate receipts and deliveries and support efforts to improve inventory accuracy across Austal.
  • Commit to inventory accuracy to meet/exceed established goals and support efforts to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure all material moves are transacted accurately and timely in Industrial Financial System (IFS), Logistics Information Network (L.I.N.K.) and CribMaster.
  • Pro-actively initiate timely, efficient and accurate stocking, picking, delivery and issue of material to ensure IFS accurately reflects current inventory
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, document and communicate findings, and submit inventory adjustments to Inventory Support Specialist team. Analyze results of discrepancy investigations to determine root-cause and support accuracy improvements efforts to achieve or exceed standards.
  • Initiate inspecting all incoming material deliveries for damages and or shortages/overages. Document and resolve all discrepancies with the procurement team. Promptly report and document freight carrier damage and support Traffic Lead in successful resolution of freight claims.
  • Lead in identifying and resolving non-conforming material (NCM) issues as needed, including but not limited to; segregating parts, labeling, creating NCM case within NCM database, and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Operate and maintain forklift and other material handling equipment to safely load/unload and store material.
  • Commit to safe and efficient material handling and vehicle/equipment operations.
  • Commit to all 5S and housekeeping standards are maintained and adhered to.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Inventory Management, Warehouse, or Logistics related field required. Experience in receiving, shipping operations preferred.
  • Proficient with material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) with the ability to gain/maintain Austal certification required.
  • Possess proof of a safe driving record required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support various Post Delivery availabilities required.
  • Willingness and ability to work irregular and sometimes lengthy work schedule required.
  • Degree in Logistics-related discipline preferred.
  • Proficiency in IFS or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system preferred.
  • Familiarity with materials and equipment used in ship construction strongly preferred.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be eligible for employment with Austal USA:
  • 18 years or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
  • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
  • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a background check
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19

TOOLS: Forklifts, pallet jacks, banding tools, and other warehouse/material handling equipment, light duty truck.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to humid conditions, bright flashing lights, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles at or below the PEL, toxic or caustic chemicals, and heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, + 90 dB.

Must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks.
