SUMMARY: Austal USA Advanced Technologies (AAT), An Austal USA Company (AUSA) is the prime contractor on a program to integrate additive manufacturing into the US Navy submarine industrial base. AAT is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the integration and development of additive manufacturing initiatives at its Mobile, AL shipyard and its Charlottesville, VA technology center.

REPORTS TO: General Manager Austal Advanced Technologies

SUPPORTED BY:

Director of Advanced Technologies.

Sr. Director of Innovation and Technology

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the implementation of the growth strategy for additive manufacturing at all AUSA sites.
  • Lead application development work in pursuit of Navy qualification of next generation AM modalities.
  • Develop & oversee new RDT&E programs which employ the advantages of AM for new markets.
  • Manage setup and successful launch of additive manufacturing lines at all AUSA sites.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the mechanical engineering, materials science and design for additive manufacturing.
  • Identify technical capability gaps and make recommendations for closing them.
  • Support integration of AM processes & procedures into AUSA’s quality management program.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline required.
  • Masters or Doctorate of Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years industry experience.
  • Experience dealing with the Navy and other DoD customers, including research organizations including ONR and DARPA, and commercial customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of government
  • Eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance from DoD.
  • Ability to travel 25% of time as required by position.
  • A person of high ethical standards who understands the importance and requirements for compliance.
