Austal USA AT works at the forefront to invent, mature, and implement advanced maritime technologies which enhance operational capacities and improve readiness of our defense systems. Austal USA AT operates a technology hub in Charlottesville VA which works to bring cutting-edge manufacturing technologies to scale and also oversees operation of the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM COE) located in Danville, VA. The mission of the AM COE is to operationalize additive manufacturing in the submarine industrial base and provide emergent request support to sustain our Nation’s fleet.

SUMMARY:

Austal USA Advanced Technologies is the prime contractor responsible for managing the US Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center for Excellence (AMCOE) in Danville, VA. Austal USA Advanced Technologies is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Manager at its Charlottesville, VA location to lead oversee the management and operations of the AMCOE.

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads an Additive Manufacturing program with a large group of strategic subcontractors.
  • Oversees the implementation of multi-year program plans including program budgets and schedule.
  • Oversees the development of technical data packages at the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Danville, VA.
  • Oversees the activation and qualification of AM suppliers an to support the MIB.
  • Works with the Program Manager leading the development of the DigitalSEA platform to ensure the digital platform meets the needs of US Navy procurement.
  • Assist with the development of an integration strategy for AM into Austal’s shipyard.
  • Integrate manufacturing automation technologies and solutions at U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Danville, VA.
  • Brief and advise Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert in Additive Manufacturing.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline required.
  • 10 years’ industry experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience dealing with the Navy and other DoD customers, including research organizations including ONR and DARPA, and commercial customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of government.
  • Eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance from DoD.
  • Ability to travel 25% of time as required by position.
  • A person of high ethical standards who understands the importance and requirements for compliance.

TOOLS: MS Office.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

  • Full discretionary authority to provide work direction to staff.
  • Full discretionary authority to establish and hold accountable for meeting performance standards.

LIAISES WITH: All other departments within the company, external customers, regulatory agencies, and suppliers.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:
