Job Description

REPORTS TO: Manager Events & Protocol

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Events Intern will work closely with the Austal USA events manager to plan and execute all aspects of Navy and Coast Guard ship milestones (e.g. ship christenings, keel laying ceremonies) and other large company events and meetings. This hands-on position will also engage in the company’s community relations process and gain valuable experience in event logistics and project coordination.

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of internal and external events
  • Support community relations initiative and outreach activities
  • Manage and track community relations requests
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to support event planning and execution efforts
  • Manage and track status of project timelines and event planning tasks
  • Manage and track RSVP lists
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field
  • Currently maintaining a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average (4.0 scale)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office 365
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions aligned with company policies and standards.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be adaptive to change as required
  • Strong sense of ownership and follow through

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:

Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA:
