REPORTS TO: Finance Compliance Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the support efforts of the annual and interim financial audits by external audit firm
  • Leads the supports efforts of any audits by Defense Contracting Audit Agency (DCAA) which includes the conducting of interviews of shipyard personnel
  • Supports any compliance review/audit by internal or external resources
  • Ensures compliance with established internal controls and procedures by examining records/practices and documenting findings
  • Prepares quarterly review reports for presentation to Management and the Audit Committee
  • Conducts internal reviews of high risk areas utilizing established audit plans
  • Accumulates data requests from agencies and ensures proper data logs are maintained to ensure timely and accurate responses
  • Investigates any reported discrepancies and liaisons with proper level of management to ensure corrective action occurs
  • Liaisons with external tax accountants to coordinate requests for data to support tax filings and credits
  • Writes and maintains written policies and procedures for area of responsibility as well as other areas of the Finance Department
  • Ensures proper set-up of suppliers in compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Assists with the facilitation of training efforts for Finance Department personnel
  • Maintains compliance with Company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA Accounting with 5-7 years of experience in a related field, preferably in manufacturing or public accounting
  • Three (3) – five (5) years manufacturing experience or corporate accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS and Disclosure Statements
  • Experience with government compliance issues preferred, especially with DCAA/DCMA/SUPSHIP
  • General knowledge of GAPP and IFRS
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams/organizations with attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail, organization skills a must.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate and address questions with all levels of organization.
  • Proven level of research and analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Management System a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to go in the shipyard, including off-site warehouse(s) and Austal’s West Campus, and conduct interviews. This includes physically climbing stairs and moving safely through constructions areas on and off vessels.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
