REPORTS TO:  Lead Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst



  • Performs analysis, design, development, and testing activities in support of enterprise reporting, business intelligence, and data analytics solutions across a wide range of business and operational functional areas including but not limited to Financial Operations, Production Control, Operations, Engineering, Human Resources, Program/Project Management and Supply Chain.
  • Organizes data into a format that tells a story to answer business questions and leads with minimal supervision the presentation of that data to an executive/management level audience.
  • Provides expert advice and educates stakeholders how to use and interpret data.
  • Assists with the design, development, and deployment of data analytic tools to support long-term information delivery and data visualization needs.
  • Creates and owns business intelligence-related queries and calculations in support of enterprise-wide reporting and analytics.
  • Serves as business intelligence technology/data advocate and liaison with other departments to ensure proper considerations are given to data governance and data management as new data and reporting needs are introduced across the enterprise.
  • Develops and maintains analytic methodology documentation.
  • Works with sensitive/personal data and maintains confidentiality and security.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics or related technical field. Four (4) years’ similar work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years demonstrated experience with reporting, business intelligence, data management, and data analytics using market-leading tools, including standard and ad-hoc reporting, dashboards and visualization tools with enterprise data.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Financial Operations, Engineering, Production Control, Operations, Human Resources, Program/Project Management and/or Supply Chain.
  • Requires solid understanding of company business systems and data along with the visualization of information usage to leverage operational improvements and cost reductions.
  • Extensive experience with Oracle database design, SQL, PL/SQL and database query performance tuning.
  • Experience designing and building extract, transformation, and load (ETL) processes to convert operational transactional data into dimensions and fact tables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience writing procedures for a complex IT/engineering/technical environment, documenting complex technical solutions, and delivering technical presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge and experience with business intelligence / data warehousing implementation methodologies and architectures.
  • Experience working collaboratively with business users and senior-level management users to determine information needs and effective delivery methods.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills, and the ability to balance multiple tasks with high attention to details.
  • Superior teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new processes and technologies.


  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of position responsibilities.
  • Candidates must meet the following employment guidelines to be eligible for employment with Austal USA:

    • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
