REPORTS TO: Planning and Scheduling Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and maintains facility capacity information documentation (dimensional info, crane capacities, future module construction locations, etc.).
- Creates weekly facility layout drawings in AutoCAD showing the build locations for vessel modules and the progression of vessel construction over building time. Creates weekly panel line plan in AutoCAD showing the panel line sequence for vessel modules. Distributes this information to Production, Projects, and Production Control.
- Chairs weekly facility and panel line plan meetings with members of production and management.
- Coordinate multiple time-sensitive module moves while minimizing construction impact on all vessels.
- Analyze Production inquiries regarding module construction location feasibility and facility usage impacts and provide answers and or direction to Production and Projects.
- Study facility process lines and develop proper technique for determining takt time to ensure vessel build schedule is not delayed.
- Assists Scheduling Department in the analysis of what-if scenarios in regards to facility real estate availability and module build locations, providing Project teams information needed to choose the best course of action.
- Develops and/or maintains facility throughput metrics.
- Learns current method for establishing budgets and resource requirements for all required production craft activities utilizing EVMS.
- Creates detailed work packages for at least one production craft and distributes them to production for implementation.
- Assists Structural Planners in the development and revision of Build Strategies.
- Develops rapport with program management and provides presentation information supporting Government meetings.
- Develops and implements lean manufacturing techniques in everyday tasks and decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience is defined as 2 years of experience for every 1 year of education.
- Demonstrable proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Motivated self-starter with initiative to learn ship construction methodologies, module build strategies, impact of takt time on construction duration and critical path.
- Ability to lead a team and coordinate efforts to solve problems.
- Working familiarity with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Outlook and Excel).
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
- Able to work independently without specific supervisory direction.
