SUPERVISES: None
SUMMARY: As an integral member of Life Cycle Team the Reliability, Availability,
Maintainability (RAM) Engineer is responsible for reliability and maintainability efforts
and activities necessary to meet program requirements. The Reliability Engineer
provides technical applied support to engineering programs, processes and product
support. Conducts analytical evaluation of components and/or systems performance
across the Life Cycle.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for monitoring and developing reliability based systems including
preventative maintenance systems, and condition monitoring.
• Participate in the creation of preventative maintenance routines (PMRs) for
simple systems and equipment.
• Analysis of repetitive problems though root cause analysis, Pareto analysis,
statistical review, Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and similar techniques.
• Responsible for the facilitation of continuous improvement processes around
equipment availability and reliability.
• Support and guide sustainable improvements in Mean Time Between Failure
(MTBF) of major equipment.
• Analyze large datasets (including databases) and drawing conclusions.
• Demonstrated successful use of statistical data analysis to make decisions.
• Knowledge of reliability evaluations tools like MTBF, Weibull, etc.
• Read and interpret technical documents, procedure manuals, schematics, data
books, handbooks, statistical process control, sampling plans, etc.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating maintenance activities for technical
compliance.
• Provide engineering support to help improve availability and reduce maintenance
costs..
• Support design trade studies using life cycle cost modeling to determine design
requirements and design of the product support system.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
• General
o Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, or a related specialized area
or field is required (or equivalent experience); Co-Op or Previous Work
Experience with ships is preferred.
o Ability to analyze datasets (including databases)
o Ability to read and interpret technical documents
o Required Work Experience: 0-3 years. Experience in Shipboard
equipment and Systems is preferred.
o Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint etc.) Experience with Reliability software preferred
o Language / Communications Skills: The following skills are required:
The ability to read, analyze and interpret general business
periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or
governmental regulations.
The ability to write reports, business correspondence & procedural
manuals.
The ability to listen to, understand, and clearly respond to complex
technical questions raised by technology savvy personnel.
The ability to persuasively and effectively communicate to decision
makers and others within the organization.
o Mathematical Skills: The following mathematical skills are required:
The ability to apply mathematical logic to decision making
situations.
Must be well versed in statistical analysis and tools implementing
statistical methods.
o Reasoning Ability: The following reasoning skills are required:
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists.
The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and
draw valid conclusions.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed
necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
• Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be
