Carry out all tasks issued by the Logistics Supervisor/Foreman in a safe and
conscientious manner, paying special attention to the quality of workmanship
and value time management constantly.
• Drive Austal Vehicle(s) to transport material to and from specified
destinations to include but not limited to out lying production and storage
facilities, suppliers, and/or locations throughout the main yard.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil,
water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper
working condition.
• Verify insurance cards and current registration are always present in vehicle
• Load/Unload trucks, vans, or automobiles as required.
• Obey all applicable traffic laws, and DOT regulations for safe driving and
transport of freight.
• Audit deliveries and pickups made to internal and external customers for
completeness and accuracy. Present bills and/or receipts, and collect
signature for goods delivered or loaded.
• Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers, and work
packages against work package lists or via hand-held electronic device.
• Record inventory transactions (moves, issue, etc.) via paper, computer or
electronic scanner device as required in the course of making material
• Turn in delivery receipts and movement documents, etc. to supervisor daily.
• As necessary, maintain in conjunction with Supervisor, records such as
vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with
• Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs,
fuses, etc.
• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and report traffic
delays or accidents to supervisor immediately via telephone or other means
of communication.
• Assist with warehouse and other duties as required.


High School Diploma/GED Required
• Must possess/maintain current Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
with a clean driving record.
• Minimum two years commercial driving experience required
• HazMat Certification required
• Familiarity with Dept. of Transportation rules and regulations.
• Experience in effective operation of material handling equipment such as
forklifts, combi-lifts, etc. required.
