REPORTS TO:  Lead Business Intelligence Developer Analyst



The Application Developer II work as a member of the development team supporting software development application efforts to build and maintain end-to-end solutions based on business functional requirements ensuring that the applications performance metrics meet stated targets.


  • The Application Developer II will work as a member of the development team supporting software development application efforts to include maintenance, enhancements, documentation, and testing.
  • Utilizes mature coding skills, as well as experience, to develop web and client applications in order to build and maintain end-to-end solutions. 
  • Responsible for creating custom applications (driven by documented specifications provided through lead department personnel) and reports to implement new business requirements and augment current application functionality across various corporate systems.
  • Coordinates development with the Application Development Lead and, when necessary, Business Systems Analysts. 
  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation of the design and effective use of code.
  • Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.


  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or
    related technical discipline degree required.
    • Four (4) + years’ similar work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Three (3) + Years’ software development required.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Two (2) + years’ of experience in ASP.NET MVC 4+ using C# and .NET Framework 4+ required.
  • Three (3) + years SQL Server & greater - tables, schemas, etc. required.
  • Two (2) + years’ experience with web development languages (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript) required.
  • One (1) + years’ experience with CSS pre-processors, XLST required.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more server side languages required.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript MVC frameworks (Backbone, AngularJS, React.js)
  • Demonstrated knowledge on web service integration (REST, JSON, XML)
  • Demonstrated experience with server side architectures and system design and development required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile development projects, especially Scrum design required.

This position will work within priorities set by Application Development Lead and/or Business Applications Manager.


This position will liaise with department personnel as well as other process stakeholders within the company, as directed by Application Development Lead and/or Business Applications Manager.
