Ultimately responsible for the performance of the LCS Sustainment Program to budgeted cost and to schedule. Provides senior level guidance to other Directors and Program Managers within the PDSS organization and other Austal Departments

  • Customer Management
    • Principal (single point of) contact with the  customer
    • Manage  customer relationship
    • Contractual reports to customer
    • Manage prime or sub-contractor  relationships
    • Support of  executive briefs, meetings, tours
  • Program Reporting
    • Directly responsible for the collation and  accuracy of  data in  support   of program  reporting  and  presentations  both  internal  and external  to the customer
    • Directly responsible for the collation and reporting of Program EAC’s
    • Responsible for ensuring  that  program  status,  progress  and  issues  is communicated across the management team on a regular basis
  • Continuous  Process Improvement
    • Drive cost down efforts, both labor and material, across all programs
    • Subject Matter Expert for Post Delivery, Repair, Modification and Sustainment
  • Provide coordination, guidance and direction to the Post Delivery team in the execution of all Post Delivery efforts including but not limited to :


  • Manage post-delivery budgets for all Post Delivery Service and Support efforts.

                        -Vessel Repair

  • Manage contract administration, specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements as they apply to ship warranty and repair.


  • Planning  / Scheduling
    • Key event planning and support as  required
    • Program Milestones
    • Critical  Path Analysis
    • Payments management  and control
  • Design and configuration  management
    • Manage design performance to ensure that deliverables are sufficient to support the project schedules.
  • Procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Manage order placement, quality assurance and on-time delivery from suppliers.
  • Classification and inspection authority  relationship
    • Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and Supervisor (SWRM / SSGC)
    • Resolution of regulatory body issues.
    • Support proposal development efforts
    • Maintain Award Fee Metrics and submit performance recommendations
  • Manage repair activities with subcontracted or seconded repair activities for repairs to Austal ships during warranty period.
  • Manage service contracts with Austal customers that extend beyond the warranty period.
  • Manage vessels’ availability with maintenance, warranty and repair work mix


  • 10 years of progressive management experience within 15 + years of military marine program / project management experience in a ship repair, modernization or sustainment yard or company.
  • Experience with U.S. federal acquisition and life cycle support program for the U.S. Navy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of government agencies, consultants and clients.
  • Ability to develop, negotiate, interpret and communicate contracts and related financial issues.
  • Knowledge of contracting methods and contract types a plus.
  • Must possess a high level of understanding of technical and engineering issues as related to naval shipbuilding and repair.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding in post-delivery life cycle support of Navy ships.
  • Ability to lead and manage in a very fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • A proven track record with Program Management experience in the marine industry
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred in business, engineering or navel discipline. Masters in Science or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Prior related military experience is preferred.

 RESONSIBILITES: This position may be required to manage repair efforts in various offsite locations. The potential for offsite travel can potentially be in excess of 40-50%

All candidates must meet Austal USA’s basic employment eligibility guidelines:  o    18 years or older at time of application

  • Able to provide proof of US Person status  (permanent resident or citizen)
  • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition  date
  • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a background check
  • High School Diploma/GED or comparable trade experience with comparable trade experience defined as five (5) or more years of experience working in the applicable trade, two (2) years of experience in shipbuilding, or, education in the trade comparable to apprenticeship.

Must be able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance
